Ernst Ludwig Kirchner - Black Kater

After a long stay in hospital due to depression and morphine addiction, Kirchner began painting his black cat Bobby, of which he made more than 100 portraits, and immortalized her in the self -portrait of 1920, as if she were an old ego or an goddess. In this painting from 1926, he represents it in a hieratical pose, like an ancient Egyptian deity.
