Adults - Ernst Ludwig Kirchner - The Street

Kirchner created this painting during a time of loneliness and uncertainty, shortly after the Brücke Group disbanded in 1913. For Kirchner, the prostitute was a symbol of the modern city, where glamor and danger, intimacy and alienation necessarily coexist, and everything is for sale.
