Adults - Oskar Schlemmer - Bauhaus Stairs

Slender figures on a staircase moving away from the viewer as if to sanction an epochal break: this symbolizes the announced closure of the Bauhaus school under the Nazis. A significant representation of the central theme of Schlemmer's work, namely the relationship between the human body and the environment: the dynamic human figures contrast with the static, geometric shapes of the stairs.
