Edward Hopper - Nighthawks

In this painting, one of the most famous works of art in the twentieth century, three customers sit away, all sunk into their own thoughts. The viewer, which is attracted to the light, feels cut off the scene by a seamless glass wall. The four lonely and unspecified night owls seem to be as far away from the viewer as from each other. Hopper admitted that I "probably unconsciously painted the loneliness of a big city in Nighthawks".
