Salvador Dalí - the basket with bread

Dalí represented bread in many of his paintings and explained: "Bread was always one of the oldest topics of fetishism and the obsession in my work, the first and the one that I remained the most loyal." In 1926 Dalí painted the bread basket for the first time; In 1945 he painted this second version, which he described as "the most esoteric and most surrealistic of everything I have painted so far".
