Adults - Vincent van Gogh - Fishing boats on the beach at Les Saintes-Maries-de-la-Mer

The fishermen's boats seem a little unreal. Compared to the irregular surface of the sandy beach, they were painted too two-dimensionally. The boats consist of evenly colored surfaces with strong outlines. In addition, the boats do not cast any shadows on the beach. Van Gogh was familiar with these stylistic elements from his collection of Japanese prints.
